Archer Job Change Guide (Ragnarök Online – Renewal)

Overview

The Archer job change quest is straightforward and fast. Archers specialize in ranged physical attacks using bows and a variety of elemental arrows. This guide explains how to change from Novice to Archer, what you need, and what you receive.

Requirements

  • Base Level: Any level (recommended 10+)
  • Job Level: 10 (Novice)
  • Skills: All Basic Skills learned (Basic Skill level 9)
  • Items: None required
  • Zeny: None required

Step 1: Meet the Requirements

Before you head out, make sure you have:

  • Reached Novice Job Level 10
  • Learned all Basic Skills up to level 9

If you don’t meet these requirements, keep leveling as a Novice until you do.

Step 2: Go to the Archer Guild in Payon

Head to the Archer Guild in Payon. Inside the Archer Guild, talk to the NPC Archer Guildsman located at coordinates (64, 71) in the map payon_in02.

What to do:

  • Talk to Archer Guildsman and choose “I want to be an Archer.”

What happens:

  • The NPC will check if you are a Novice, have Job Level 10, and have your Basic Skill to level 9.
  • If you don’t meet the requirements, he will tell you what’s missing.
  • If you meet the requirements, he will proceed with the job change.

Step 3: Become an Archer and Receive Rewards

Once you pass the checks, the NPC will change your job to Archer and hand out starting gear.

  • Open each arrow container to obtain arrows, then equip them to start using your bow effectively.

Alternative Dialog: Information About Archers

If you choose “I need the requirements, please.” the Archer Guildsman will explain the Archer’s role:

  • Archers attack safely from long range with high accuracy and attack rate.
  • Subsequent job advancements include Hunter. Depending on gender in classic paths, the second job can be Bard (male) or Dancer in pre-renewal/classic branches.

Special Cases

Reborn Characters (Upper Class)

If you are a High Novice (reborn):

  • The Archer Guildsman recognizes you’ve been to Valhalla.
  • Requirements still apply (Basic Skills must be learned).
  • You will be changed to High Archer and granted the following permanent skills:
    • AC_MAKINGARROW Level 1
    • AC_CHARGEARROW Level 1

Already Another Job

If you are not a Novice (or already an Archer), the NPC will not process a job change.
